This month, our founders, Danny and Nick Briere, had an opportunity to head to Wichita Kansas, to the headquarters of Koch Industries, to meet up with our partners at Youth Entrepreneurs (YE). It was our first “everyone in the same room” meeting since we announced our partnership to support youth entrepreneurship through invention and entrepreneurship education, and it was a great experience. Beyond the leadership of Youth Entrepreneurs, we also had representatives from Koch Industries and The Charles Koch Foundation, sponsors of both STEMIE and YE.
We were able to discuss our respective strategic directions and discover the synergies between them – in things like systems, curricula, professional development, and even geography (as our footprints are similar and complementary). We’ve got a great plan to work together to advance entrepreneurship in our nation’s schools. Representatives from YE will be attending our Affiliates Fall Summit at The Henry Ford in September, providing entrepreneurship training for the leaders of each of our regional affiliates to pass on to their local school districts, teachers and, ultimately, students.
STEMIE and YE are working together to achieve a level of collaboration rare in the non-profit space, and are excited to be working on a number of initiatives with further details forthcoming in the coming months.
